Blackboard courses have both a “Course Name” and a “Course ID” (you see each in your list of courses on the “My Courses” page. Instructors have control over the “Course Name” but not the “Course ID” (controlled by OPUS). To change the “Course Name,” click “Customization” in the menu on the bottom left, and then select “Properties.” This will show a screen that has the option to change the Course Name. Once you change it (and click “Submit”), the course will have a new name, though the same Course ID. The student will see the Course Name when he or she logs into Blackboard, and if an email is sent from the course, it is the Course Name that the student will see in his or her inbox. Unfortunately changes to the Course ID cannot be made at the Instructor level. Requests for changes must be made to firstname.lastname@example.org.
