Blackboard allows you to make certain changes to the appearance of the course, including the default page students see, the way the menus work, and the color scheme. You can also add a course banner. To do this, you need to visit the “Teaching Style” page. In the course you wish to modify (appearance is changed on a course-by-course basis), with Edit Mode turned on (top right of the screen), click on “Customization” in the Control Panel on the bottom left. Then choose “Teaching Style.” On this page you will see several ways of changing the look of your course.
One consistent frustration is the sizing of images for banners. Blackboard will take whatever size image you give it and display, with the dimensions of the original file. Therefore, you need to re-size the image (using Photoshop or Gimp) to the desired dimensions before uplaoding the image.
